Seville Transport Card: Tickets, Passes and Real Trip Costs

Compare Seville transport cards, current fares, minimum top-ups, refundable deposits and ticket coverage, with practical examples for short stays.

Last updated September 2026, this Seville transport card guide compares the main visitor options without treating them as one citywide pass. TUSSAM bus/tram cards, Metro tickets and the Consorcio card have different coverage and conditions. Start with the journeys you will actually make, then compare the fare used, the money you must load and any refundable deposit. For a metropolitan excursion, compare the exact service and boarding point in the Carmona bus guide with the product conditions here.

Which Seville Transport Card Should You Get?

For one or two ordinary city-bus or tram rides, €1.40 singles are straightforward. For several journeys, compare TUSSAM's stored-value Multiviaje with its one-day and three-day tourist products. Do not choose a tourist card just because you are a tourist: a short stay does not automatically make a time-based pass cheapest.

The route matters before the fare. A hotel near a useful Metro station may call for a different product from a stay with convenient TUSSAM buses. The Seville public transport overview helps identify the network; the table below then separates the products.

  • Only a few ordinary TUSSAM rides: compare singles with the full initial cost of a card.
  • Repeated bus/tram journeys: Multiviaje can reduce consumed fares, but its minimum reload is real money paid.
  • Many ordinary bus/tram rides within one or three calendar days: compare tourist cards, particularly if you would leave stored credit unused.
  • Metro plus participating metropolitan services: investigate the Consorcio card, not a TUSSAM tourist pass.
  • A high number of ordinary TUSSAM journeys within a longer validity period: consider the personalised 30-day product and its application process.

Seville Transport Card Options Compared

The current TUSSAM tariff table lists ordinary singles at €1.40, discounted Multiviaje at €0.41 without transfer or €0.46 with transfer, tourist products at €5/€10, and the 30-day product at €21.20. These are the displayed September-review amounts, not a promise for every future travel date.

TUSSAM operates city buses and the separate MetroCentro tram. Metro Line 1 uses different fares and ticketing, explained in the Metro ticket and gate-payment guide. A TUSSAM €1.40 single is not a Metro single, and a TUSSAM tourist card is not a Metro day pass.

Costs and Deposits: What You Actually Pay

TUSSAM's current card conditions distinguish the €2 refundable deposit on Multiviaje/tourist support from unused stored credit, which is not refunded just because you stop travelling. Deposit return is subject to the card's condition and functioning during its two-year guarantee. Keep your receipt and plan a return at an appropriate service point; do not assume every shop processes refunds.

Older TUSSAM overview text and the older tourist PDF still mention €1.50. The current dedicated Multiviaje product page, tourist product information and general card conditions instead state €2. This guide budgets with the newer specific pages and flags the discrepancy so you can check the amount at purchase.

A new Multiviaje with the minimum €7 load therefore needs €9 upfront. A new one-day tourist card needs €7 and a three-day card €12. If an eligible deposit is later returned, the net outlay falls by €2; the remaining Multiviaje balance does not become refundable cash. A processing fee for a personalised card is different and should not be treated as a recoverable deposit.

The deposit and unused credit are separate from any journey debt. Check the balance before requesting a return and ask the service point what applies if the card has used its low-balance facility. Do not deliberately plan to exhaust or borrow against the support deposit just to make a price comparison look cheaper.

Where to Buy and Top Up Your Seville Transport Card

Use the current service-point page, not an old list of three offices. It currently marks Ponce de León temporarily closed for works. Prado de San Sebastián and the central office at Avenida de Andalucía 11 remain listed. Authorised shops also sell or reload eligible products; check the product offered rather than assuming every transit outlet serves every operator.

At Prado, the staffed office is listed Monday–Friday 08:00–19:45; the express counter adds Saturday 09:00–14:00. The central office lists weekday mornings 08:30–14:30 and Monday–Thursday afternoons 17:00–18:45. The airport service point lists daily 08:00–23:00 and specifically offers EA tickets plus Multiviaje/tourist sales and reloads. An airport sale does not mean a tourist card includes the airport bus. Recheck hours and service availability before a special trip.

The Prado TUSSAM service point, tram stop, Metro entrance and coach terminal are distinct places in the same wider area. They are not Plaza de Armas. Use the guide to Seville's two coach terminals if arriving by coach, and follow the signs for the service you need. The map here is Prado-area orientation, not proof of a counter's opening status.

TUSSAM's product pages link to its official online reload service. Read its current fulfilment or activation instructions and retain confirmation; do not assume that paying online instantly updates a physical card. No purchase or live reload was tested for this guide. If you need to board immediately and cannot confirm that a load is usable, use an appropriate staffed point or another valid ticket.

Ordinary bus singles are bought onboard; tram singles are bought at tram-stop machines. A Metro ticket machine is not interchangeable with a TUSSAM tram machine. Multiviaje reload facilities at tram stops are another option, but check the installed equipment and current stop access instead of relying on an older list that includes Plaza Nueva.

Single Ticket vs. Card: A Realistic Break-Even Guide

The old claim that a new card pays for itself after two rides ignores the minimum load. With this €7 load, six singles cost €8.40, which exceeds the €7 net outlay only if the deposit is recovered. If the deposit is not recovered, seven singles cost €9.80 and exceed the €9 initial outlay. These comparisons change if you already own a card, use a different product, need another load or use the remaining credit later.

The following example is for a new no-transfer Multiviaje card loaded with exactly €7, used only for ordinary €0.41 charged journeys. It includes the €2 deposit. The last column assumes you successfully recover that deposit but leave all remaining credit unused; that credit is not reimbursed. This is a short-visit cash comparison, not a claim that the journeys themselves cost €7.

Charged journeysSingles totalCredit consumedUnused creditCard upfrontNet if deposit returned
2€2.80€0.82€6.18€9€7
4€5.60€1.64€5.36€9€7
8€11.20€3.28€3.72€9€7
16€22.40€6.56€0.44€9€7
  • A €5 one-day tourist fare beats four €1.40 singles (€5.60) only when comparing the fare alone or recovering its deposit; an unreturned new card costs €7.
  • Against consumed no-transfer credit, thirteen €0.41 journeys use €5.33. Against transfer-enabled charges, eleven €0.46 journeys use €5.06. These are charge counts, not every boarding during a qualifying transfer.
  • A €10 three-day fare crosses consumed-credit totals at 25 no-transfer charges (€10.25) or 22 transfer-enabled charges (€10.12), before initial loading and leftover-credit effects.
  • A tourist card can still be a practical short-stay choice below those consumed-fare thresholds if the alternative leaves substantial non-refundable credit. Compare actual money spent, not only per-ride prices.

Tourist Validity, Longer Stays and Concessions

The one-day tourist product and the tourist-card conditions make the time unit important: one or three calendar days from first use, regardless of the hour. These are not rolling 24-hour or 72-hour passes. Starting late in the evening uses part of the first calendar day. The card allows one user per journey, not simultaneous group travel.

Multiviaje is different: its transfer-enabled version provides a qualifying transfer window, currently one hour, to a different line under the operator's conditions. The no-transfer version charges its lower fare without that benefit. For a connection involving two vehicles, compare the applicable transfer product before adding two unrelated single-leg prices.

The 30-day application describes a named holder, ordinary-service coverage and a first-validation-based period; it excludes airport and special services. Its normal reload is €21.20 plus the initial €2 processing charge. Application requires a photo and identification, with collection after processing, not guaranteed immediate issue at a bus stop. A stay need not last 30 days for comparison to be worthwhile; journey volume and issue timing matter more than the length of the holiday alone.

Do not confuse the normal personalised product with concession eligibility. The Consorcio Youth Card targets Andalusian residents under 30 and requires an application. TUSSAM's own family discounts have their own documentation and residence conditions. A visiting student or large family should not assume a discount automatically applies, but neither should every standard visitor card be described as resident-only.

Consorcio, Airport Travel and Bundled Products

The Consorcio card is a separate stored-value option for participating metropolitan services, Metro and ordinary TUSSAM bus/tram. Each mode retains its own tariff structure. Eligible intermodal transfers have mode-dependent discounts of up to 20%, with subsequent transfers inside 120 minutes of the first validation. That is not a free two-hour pass or the same rule as TUSSAM's one-hour different-line transfer.

Consorcio's current Spanish information specifies a €1.50 non-refundable administration charge, not TUSSAM's €2 refundable deposit. Its English translation still describes a deposit returnable within a year; follow the current Spanish terms and confirm the charge at purchase. Unused Consorcio credit is not refunded either. Its published minimum load is €5, so a new card starts at €6.50. Buy and reload through an authorised channel and check any channel-specific minimum.

Airport travel needs special care. TUSSAM's tariff table separately lists €6 for EA single travel, including payment using Multiviaje balance. That does not turn the ordinary €0.41/€0.46 fare into an airport fare. Tourist and ordinary 30-day products exclude EA, while the airport-monthly product is a separate option. See the airport transfer comparison for the journey-specific choice.

Treat commercial products called a travel card, city pass or transport bundle according to their actual inclusions. Check who issues the public-transport component, whether an airport transfer is private or scheduled, any collection requirement and the cancellation terms. A reseller's title is not proof of TUSSAM or Metro coverage. No specific commercial bundle price or availability is asserted here.

Mistakes to Avoid When Buying a Seville Transport Card

Choose a product for a real itinerary and keep its payment, validity and refund rules separate. These checks prevent the most consequential mix-ups:

  • Do not use the ordinary TUSSAM fare to budget a Metro or airport journey.
  • Do not compare just two consumed stored-value fares against singles when a new card needs a minimum load.
  • Do not count unused credit as money you will automatically get back.
  • Do not send yourself to Ponce de León without checking whether its works closure has ended.
  • Do not treat a tourist card as rolling 24/72-hour validity or a shared group pass.
  • Do not assume online payment, machine loading and onboard validation are the same step.
  • Do not use an old photo of a tram destination display as current route evidence.

Getting Around Seville Without a Transport Card

A transport card is optional, not an entry requirement for a city visit. For nearby plans, a self-guided historic-centre walk may keep travel simple. Choose distances and surfaces that suit your group, season and luggage rather than assuming every sight is an easy walk from every hotel.

Another option is bike hire and Sevici planning, with a suitable cycling route and return arrangement. Bike subscriptions are not included merely because you own a bus card. Singles or Metro gate payment may suit an occasional journey without committing to another stored-value balance.

If arriving at Santa Justa railway station, compare the actual route to your accommodation. Santa Justa is not San Bernardo and has no direct Line 1 platform. Consult Renfe for the booked train, then choose the separate city-transfer option. Do not let the desire to use up a pass dictate an inconvenient connection.

The optional Leo Explores video below is a general city overview. Its title and creator were checked, but playback and its individual fare claims were not verified. For card purchases, current service points and refund rules, use the operator sources in this guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best transport card for a short trip to Seville?

It depends on the services and journeys you will use. A few ordinary TUSSAM singles can cost less than a new stored-value card's minimum load. Compare the tourist fare, deposit recovery and unused credit instead of choosing a pass solely by stay length.

Is the Seville Multiviaje card worth it for tourists?

It can be, but a new card needs at least €7 credit plus a €2 deposit. Ordinary charged journeys currently use €0.41 without transfer or €0.46 with the eligible transfer option. Low consumed fares do not mean the unused part of the load is refunded.

Do you get the deposit back on a Seville transport card?

TUSSAM's current rules allow return of its €2 Multiviaje/tourist deposit during the two-year guarantee, subject to the card's condition and functioning. Unused credit is separate and is not refunded simply because you stop travelling. Consorcio cards and personalised processing fees follow different rules.

How much do Seville tourist cards cost and how long do they last?

The one-day fare is €5 and the three-day fare €10, plus a €2 deposit for new support. Validity is one or three calendar days from first use, not rolling 24/72 hours. Ordinary TUSSAM bus/tram travel is included; Metro and EA airport travel are not.

Where can I buy a Seville transport card?

Check TUSSAM's current service points, including Prado, the central office and the airport, plus authorised retailers. Ponce de León is currently listed as temporarily closed for works. Opening hours and available transactions vary by point; online reload does not itself supply a new physical card.

Can one Seville transport card cover Metro and the airport bus?

Do not assume so. TUSSAM tourist and ordinary 30-day products cover neither Metro nor EA. The Consorcio card includes participating Metro/ordinary-city services but excludes EA. Multiviaje can pay the separately listed €6 EA tariff, not the ordinary discounted city fare.
